HOW TO HEAR GOD AND WALK AND TALK WITH GOD IN SPIRITUAL INTIMACY
CHRIST IS HEAD, NOT MEN: Some claim there are no prophets today, but the Bible states that it is the Spirit who distributes gifts (1 Corinthians 12). It is not for us to dictate to the Spirit. The gifts of the Spirit are fundamental to the function of the church and to the connection of the church to Christ. Christ is Head of the church (Ephesians 1:22; Colossians 1:18). It is not for us to appoint a man to be the church head or a church leader. Church appointments are by God, for "...God has placed in the church..." (1 Corinthians 12:28), and God knows best, not men. In Acts 9, Saul/Paul is converted from destroyer of the church to Apostle to the gentiles, and this occurs directly by Christ appearing to him, and then in Damascus by the Lord appearing to obedient Ananias in a vision and sending him to Saul/Paul; this was by the Lord, not men. In Acts 10, Peter and Cornelius receive knowledge and instructions from heaven and obey, and the whole Christian world changes to include gentiles; this was by God, not men. It is written, "...the Holy Spirit said, "...set apart for Me, Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them..." (Acts 13:2 NIV). Compared to God we don't know what we are doing, and we have made a mess, and we must stop trying to do what only Father God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit can get right.
GETTING YOUR HEART & LIFE READY FOR SPIRITUAL INTIMACY WITH GOD...
Don't judge: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Matthew 7:1-2 NIV).
Know Him: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’" (Matthew 7:21-23 NIV).
Forgive: "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold was brought to him. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. At this the servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' He demanded. His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'be patient with me, and I will pay it back.' But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened. Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,; he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart'" (Matthew 18:23-35 NIV).
Love: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35 NIV).
Obey: "If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love" (John 15:10 NIV).
Love & Obey: “If you love me, keep my commands" (John 14:15 NIV).
Live Like Jesus: "We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did" (1 John 2:3-6 NIV).
HOW TO WALK AND TALK WITH GOD IN SPIRITUAL INTIMACY...
Jesus prayed for us to have the same oneness he and the Father had (John 17:20-26), and this page teaches you how:
Spiritual intimacy is a spiritual relationship with God that is full of romantic, spiritually intimate love. It is the spiritual version of falling in love with the person we marry -- spiritual intimacy is falling in love with God. We walk in the Spirit; walk in oneness with God; walk and talk with God; and, hear Father God and the Lord Jesus Christ speak through the Holy Spirit. They direct our personal life, personally, directly. If we are a church leader, Christ can be Head of his church and direct his church through us.
TWO ESSENTIAL THINGS -- DESIRE & TIME:
Desire is essential, because this is about romantic spiritual love. Hunger and thirst (Matthew 5:6), and ask, seek, knock (Matthew 7:7-11). Above all else, pray and ask God, knowing with certainty that it is the Spirit who reveals God to us that we may know him (Ephesians 1:15-17).
Time reflects our desire. To develop spiritual intimacy quickly, spend two to three hours of non-distracted private time with God each day. If only 30 to 60 minutes is possible, this will develop spiritual intimacy too, but it will take longer to grow deeper. If you only have five minutes a day, start with five minutes. Never despise small beginnings or a single minute with God, because God makes powerful use of every second we spend with him!
When a husband and wife romance each other, they find somewhere private. They may begin with a romantic meal, listen to love songs, cuddle up beside each other on a couch, tell each other the things that cause them to love the other, touch each other gently, affectionately, and caress each other tenderly, etc. Romancing God is very similar.
GETTING THE MOOD RIGHT FOR SPIRITUAL ROMANCE:
Location. Find a comfortable, quiet and private location where you will not be disturbed or distracted.
Read Scripture. Read for 20 or 30 minutes; Psalms of David, the Gospels and Acts are recommended.
Love Songs. Listen to songs of praise and love songs to God. Sing love songs to God for 20 or 30 minutes to help get in the mood for spiritual intimacy with God.
Love Talk. What is it about God's personality, character and heart that you find most attractive to you? Spend time thinking of all the reasons why you love and adore God, and tell him, speaking his qualities to him -- make it personal. Tell God all the personal things about him that made you fall in love with him and why you are still in love with him.
Prayer. Spend as much time as you need, quietly praying, asking God to increase your love for him, your wisdom, your spiritual sensitivity and your spiritual perception. Quietly ask him to increase your hunger, your thirst and your asking, seeking and knocking. This is special romantic time with God so do not ask for stuff and things, but ask only for what will deepen your romantic love and your spiritual intimacy with God. Tell God that you desire to see him and hear him, and assure him that when he speaks, you will do what he tells you to do. Admit to God that you do not know how to be close to him and ask him to come to you and show you. Ask him to come to you and take you into his heart -- request the Holy Spirit come to take your spirit into the heart of your God.
Visualize Your Love. Visualize your love for God. I do it this way, visualizing my love for God in the form of a white glowing ball rising from my feet and ascending into heaven to God's feet in front of his throne.
Silence. Spend some time in silence. Think only of your love for God. Rest in silence, in stillness and await the Spirit coming for your spirit. Relax and wait silently, patiently for 10 to 15 minutes. At the beginning he may not come, but be persistent and keep asking.
Time. Follow God's cues regarding time. Enjoy God without thinking about time. The time you spend on the different sections mentioned above will vary and change and are not meant to be strictly set times. My experience was, that for about 15 years before God began speaking The Valentine Prophecies, he kept telling me to increase my time with him until I was averaging 5 to 7 hours each day, but spiritual intimacy and how it develops is unique for each one of us. Follow God's lead. When you begin hearing from God it is important to only end your time with God, when he releases you. Let God lead. Submission to Jesus in our betrothal to him is essential for developing a deep spiritual romance.
Spontaneity. Spiritual intimacy and developing it should be flexible, fun and a lovely experience every step of the way. It is romance, and romance and love are not hard work, but pure pleasure. Feel free in the Spirit. Follow the Spirit. Simply begin from where you are and give Jesus your whole heart.
BARRIERS TO SPIRITUAL INTIMACY:
Mind-Rush. One of the biggest hindrances to hearing God is stress, anxiety, fear, and/or the rush and cares and worries of this world. If your mind is too busy with fast-paced thoughts, you will benefit from asking God to calm and still your mind, your thoughts.
Hate. Other barriers are envy, jealousy, rivalry, pride and hatred. If we cannot love those we can see, we cannot love the God we cannot see (1 John 4:20).
Divided Heart. Relational distance results when we have a competing love, a higher and greater love in our life -- higher and greater than our love for God. It may be a person or something like money, ambition, or fame. It doesn't matter what it is. We must get it out of our life. It's spiritually dangerous. It's spiritual unfaithfulness, akin to adultery. God finds nothing attractive in a divided heart. We must be sure to truly love him 100%, wholeheartedly. God loves a 100% heart, just like we do in the person we are attracted to and marry.
No. Similar to the unfaithful heart, is the person who is disobedient. When God speaks to us and gives us instructions, we must obey him. I have experienced that if God speaks and I don't obey him, he may not speak another word to me, until I apologize and obey the last thing he commanded me to do that I didn't do. God likes 'Yes' men, 'Yes' woman, and doesn't like 'No' for an answer.
TESTING THE SPIRITS:
It is very important as your spiritual sensitivity increases and you begin to hear God, that you test the spirits. The Holy Spirit refers us to what he spoke through John, "... test the spirits to see whether they are from God ... This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist..." (1 John 4:1-3 NIV).
Beware. Never ask a spirit if he is God. The enemies of God are liars and all of them are willing to lie and tell you they are God.
Testing the spirits is so important that God taught me to ask these three questions:
1. Is Jesus Christ the Son of God?
2. Did Jesus Christ die for the sins of the whole world?
3. Is Jesus Christ, God?
After you ask the above three question, if it is a demon or evil spirit speaking, it is my experience to hear an angry snarling response or complete silence and no reply. When this occurs, I ask God to talk to me and he does, and I ask God to silence the demon or evil spirit that spoke without authority, and he (God) does. If it is God speaking to me, it is my experience that God will reply turning each question into a statement of fact, as follows:
"Yes Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
"Yes Jesus Christ did die for the sins of the whole world."
"Yes Jesus Christ is God."
At this point, God's reply is usually quite informal and friendly, reassuring me that it's okay, it's him, before he continues with what he was speaking to me and telling me.
